Brisbane ferry workers are planning a 48-hour strike beginning at 04:00 (local time) on Thursday, December 6. A ferry drivers’ union representing CityCat and CityFerry employees is demanding higher wages, job security, and enforcement of safety standards. At least 130 people are expected to participate in the strike. Transportation disruptions, including crowded conditions on roads and other forms of public transportation, are expected in the vicinity of Brisbane River.
