Fire-fighting planes rejoined the fight against the forest fire in Strofilia, on the borders of Achaia and Ileia in the Peloponnese on Wednesday. 2,000 acres of forest have been already burned down. A major fire-fighting effort had continued throughout the night with 90 fire men and 35 fire engines battling to put out the blaze that started on Tuesday afternoon.
According to sources, the fact that the fire is close to the shore allows the aircraft to quickly load up on water and douse the flames. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
