The national weather service Meteo France has issued orange storm alerts, the second-highest on a four-point scale, for much of the eastern and central areas of the country for Thursday, August 9. A total of 30 departments are covered by the alerts as of Thursday morning (local time). Flooding and strong winds — along with related air and rail disruptions, hazardous driving conditions, and power outages — are possible.

Individuals in affected areas are advised to keep abreast of weather forecasts, confirm travel reservations, and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities.
